Carat weight measures diamond mass, but the number on an earring option needs a clear subject. At intuit geometrics, an earring option's total carat weight per pair describes the combined diamond weight of both earrings. It is not automatically the weight of one earring, one diamond or each diamond in a setting. Reading that phrase carefully makes comparisons more useful.
What the pair total tells you
If a pair contains one 0.30 ct diamond in each earring, with no other diamonds, its total would be 0.60 ct per pair. This is a hypothetical arithmetic example, not a specification for a product in our collection. The calculation works in that direction because both individual weights and the stone count are known. The reverse does not follow: a listing that says 0.60 ct total per pair does not, on its own, prove that the earrings have two equal 0.30 ct diamonds.

Some earrings place several diamonds on each side. In that case, a pair total may combine stones of different sizes. The total remains useful for comparing stated configurations, but it cannot tell you the number, position or weight of each stone. Nor can a stone diameter alone be converted into an exact carat weight without other verified information. When the individual weights matter to your decision, look for variant-specific details or ask about the exact option.
Read the design as well as the number
Studs and hoops can present diamonds in quite different ways. A stud gives one compact visual focal point on each side; a hoop may arrange stones along a curved front. Front and side images can help you see the setting and, where shown, the closure. The choice of metal color changes the frame around the diamonds. None of these visual differences should be inferred from total carat weight alone.

When comparing two options, keep the product name, pair total and picture together. A larger pair total does not necessarily mean a larger single diamond: it may reflect more diamonds across the pair. It also says nothing by itself about color or clarity grades. Those facts require source information for the specific option.
How report arrangements are decided
Our brand's report arrangement uses the weight of an individual diamond: a diamond at or above 0.50 ct is assigned IGI; one below 0.50 ct is assigned GIL. This is an intuit geometrics arrangement, not an industry-wide threshold. A pair total must not be used to assign a report type unless the individual stone weights are independently established. It also does not imply that every small accent diamond has its own separate report. The applicable report is linked to the selected diamond and order when confirmed.
Explore our lab-grown diamond earrings to compare actual designs, and read Our Standards for the report explanation. If an individual weight is not displayed for an option you are considering, contact us with its specific product and selection rather than relying on the pair total.
